Level I focuses on introducing the participant to open face felling and the development of techniques to safely use it. Topics covered include personal protective equipment, chainsaw safety features, chainsaw reactive forces, bore cutting, pre-planning the fell, and understanding hinge wood strength. Class is currently full, but you can register for the waiting list.

Logging since childhood, Ken’s vast experience working in the woods encompasses over 25 years. As a certified Safety Trainer, Ken has been training groups and individuals since 1992. Along the way, he was privileged to work with and receive training from Soren Eriksson of Sweden, who established an internationally known safety training program call “Game of Logging”, which has 5 levels of training available. Currently Ken works with loggers, landowners, arborists, college students, city groups, emergency medical technicians and power companies. Ken is also trained as a C-certifier (Advanced Sawyer Certification) for Regions 8 & 9 U.S. Forest Service. He adjusts each program as needed to meet the needs and experience levels of individuals and companies.

Nathan Stanford is currently training under Ken to become a certified Game of Logging instructor and like Ken is extremely qualified to meet the needs and experience levels of individuals and companies.
